USA Rugby and HYR SBRO
Introduction:
USA Rugby, founded in 1975, is the national governing body for rugby and is a member of the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) and the International Rugby Board (IRB). The organization is responsible for the development of youth, high school, collegiate, and club athletic programs in addition to the Eagles who represent the United States in international competition. Rugby is the second most actively played team sport in the world and is growing rapidly in the United States, especially among teens and young adults.
USA Rugby recognizes SBROs as the primary growth vehicle for the development of youth and high school rugby nationally. Throughout their development process, USA Rugby will work with the local rugby community to apply best practices and develop organizational structure. Each partnership has a common goal of creating an organization with sound administrative and business plans that provide resources, services, and support to existing teams while removing obstacles in starting new programs. The SBRO model itself is a collection of best practices designed to maximize participation and long term growth in the game. SBRO clubs can gain access to:
- Organizational consulting to help build your organization
- Comprehensive documentation outlining policies, procedures, guidelines and recommendations for establishing a sustainable nonprofit organization with associated rugby programs.
- Benefit and Incentive Programs
- Licensing rights to certain USA Rugby-developed materials and program
- Ongoing training & support
- Youth and high school specific coach and referee development programs
- Grant opportunities for game, program and business development
Please contact any of the HYR Board Members for more information.
New Clubs will need about a week turn around time to establish a new entry with USA Rugby, submit your new club information online at www.usarugby.org, then receive a reply email in about a week to proceed to register and pay for your club and its members. Please contact any of our Board Members on the Contact Us page if you should have any questions or concerns.
